129-bed acute care hospital with emergency department *35-bed regional unit - transitional beds for ALC (alternate level of care) patients

  • Emergency Department Emergency room care * doctors, nurses, and other health professionals assess and treat life-threatening injuries or severe illness
    • all patients are initially triaged by a registered nurse and are seen on a priority-basis, not a first-come first-served basis
    • all patients are assessed and prioritized using the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), based on the patient’s complaint and the signs and symptoms they may be exhibiting
