Referral to the program is required from Emergency Department (ED), Post Emergency Pediatric Clinic (PEPC) or by a family doctor or community pediatricians

Description of Services:
Offers comprehensive assessment, treatment and education for adults and children living with asthma * educational services are available at all three sites of Halton Healthcare and daytime and evening appointments are also available

Educational topics include:
  • learning what can trigger the condition
  • how to choose best method of control
  • how to monitor the condition daily

Pediatric Asthma Clinic:
  • available to children and adolescents ranging from newborn to 17 years of age who are struggling with asthma
  • focuses on the needs of children who continue to be hospitalized, visit the Emergency Department often, miss school days and meet the criteria of having poor asthma control
  • pediatric respirologist and asthma educator will work together to provide patients and caregivers with the tools to safely and effectively manage their asthma, improve quality of life and decrease utilization of emergency medical services
